LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The good news for Raiders/Aces owner Mark Davis is that no matter how lame his NFL Raiders play there’s also the championship caliber play of the WNBA Las Vegas Aces.
In short, the Aces have A’ja Wilson, the best women’s basketball player on earth, and the Raiders have quarterback Geno Smith, who threw two more interceptions in a brutal loss to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday.
The Aces, behind 60 combined points between guard Jackie Young and Wilson, took a 2-0 lead in the Best-of-7 WNBA Finals against the Phoenix Mercury. Young scored 32 points and Wilson added 28 in the Aces’ 91-78 win over Phoenix in Game 2 at Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena.
The Aces were the better-shooting team Sunday, making 37 of 75 field goal attempts (49.3 percent), while the Mercury made only 29 of 71 FG attempts (40.8 percent), including five of 28 three-point shot attempts.
Game 3 is Wednesday in Phoenix and Game 4 is Friday also in Phoenox.
