On Allegiant Stadium: Two Guns N’ Roses Concert Goers Offer Post-Event Stadium Comments Friday

LVSportsBiz.com caught up with Laura Coronado, of Las Vegas, and Stephen Hayden, of Las Vegas, to get their thoughts on attending the Guns N’ Roses concert at Allegiant Stadium Friday. We have reported extensively on the parking and traffic issues related to the domed 65,000-seat stadium, which is run by the Las Vegas Raiders.

LVSportsBiz.com: How were parking and traffic situations, coming and going?

Laura Coronado: Parking off site was easy peasy and made leaving the area a breeze. Getting to my parking area was a challenge because of the closed down streets. I had to take a longer route to access my parking area, but that was it. Eventually, I was able to access it.

LVSB: At past events at Allegiant Stadium, many people did not comply with the Clark County mandate to wear masks indoors in an attempt to stem the spread of COVID-19.

LC: From Twitter posts — Lots of people not wearing their masks on the floor. Allegiant Stadium staff aren’t enforcing the policy. I’m now double masking and wearing protective eyewear. Dirty assholes

K I’m home safe and sound now. I had noooooo service on the floor. (AT&T). I like my floor seats but no one wore masks and Allegiant Stadium staff did nothing to enforce it. I double-masked and wore protective eyewear

LVSB: You had some interesting pre-concert prep.

LC: From twitter posts — Know that I purchased my concert ticket right when I was getting vaxxed, before the Delta variant. I also purchased event insurance in case I chickened out or the event was canceled/postponed. The Garth Brooks concert was not a super spreader (I think ), so I have hope; I pre-purchased off-site parking, but still within walking distance, from Parking dot com. It was $50. Had I done Lyft, I probably would’ve spent about that much roundtrip. I printed out my pass, but they accept it mobile, too.

LVSB: People are still learning the stadium’s bag policy.

LC: From Twitter posts — I purposely purchased off-site because I hear that when you park at Allegiant, it’s a clusterfuck to leave. Masks are mandatory!!! So are CLEAR bags, ladies. SO many women walking back to their cars to leave their bags

Here’s is our Q and A with Stephen Hayden after the concert:

LVSportsBiz.com: How was the concert tonight at the stadium? What was it like getting there and leaving and finding parking tonight?

Stephen Hayden: Things went well. We splurged on a spot in lot B. When concert ended it took 10 minutes to get to car from our seat, 5 minutes later we were on Valley View. Concert was great. Loooooud.

LVSB: The strategy to reach the stadium?

SH: Arriving we came from Trop to Dean Martin and had to loop around via Oquendo to Polaris. We know next time to just come from the south for the western on prem lots. Quick admission. Good time had by mom and brother.

LVSB: The parking B space was $100? How were acoustics?

SH: Aye, $100. Worth it for my mom.

We were high in a section, so acoustics I didn’t expect to be perfect, but they were decent. Quiet between songs did have a little bit of extra noise similar to the piped in crowd noise from training camp, like mics on stage were picking up the floor crowd. So clarity, I didn’t have much of an issue with, it was just So. LOUD.

Fun Fact: Guns N‘ Roses have been here in Las Vegas before: Jan 25, 1992, Guns N‘ Roses performed at Thomas & Mack Center with 17,590 fans. Later, attendance record was broken by U2 on November 18, 2001 when U2 sold 17,771 tickets. Guns N’ Roses also played T-Mobile Arena April 2016.
