It happened again.

The Golden Knights could not hold a two-goal lead in the third period and lost another home game in overtime Saturday.

Today, it was a 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets after the Knights entered the third period with a 3-1 lead. The Jets scored the third and tying score on a controversial non-call of an apparent icing against Winnipeg. The Jets won the game in overtime before an announced VGK crowd of 18,276 tonight.

The Jets won in OT Saturday night.

Coach Gerard Gallant was pleased with goalie Malcolm Subban’s performance. Two nights ago, the Knights also blew a two-goal lead in the third period. In that case, the Montreal Canadiens — playing the second game of a back-to-back just like the Winnipeg Jets did — defeated the Golden Knights, 5-4, in overtime.

LVSportsBiz.com visited the postgame locker room stalls of defenseman Nate Schmidt and forward Jonathan Marchessault to find out their thoughts on losing the third period leads the past two games.

Coach Gerard Gallant in his postgame comments that he would not accept the ref’s non-call of the icing in period three as the reason the Knights lost. He said he was upset with the VGK backing off in the third period to not close the deal. Gallant took only two minutes to comment:

The Vegas Golden Knights game experience included Dia de los Muertos at the VGK-Winnipeg Jets game Saturday night — and fans came prepared to observe the memories of the lives of loved one and friends.

Back-up goaltender Malcolm Subban subbed for regular goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury who the team said was suffering from the flu and missed the game. The Knights led, 3-1, after the second period with goals from Marchessault, Max Pacioretty and Schmidt.

Nate Schmidt was firing shots all night long.
