LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The Vegas Golden Knights should be thankful they are playing in a weak division.
It was another loss for the VGK Sunday. This time, a defeat to the Edmonton Oilers. Vegas absorbed its 21st regulation loss to go with 14 overtime/shootout losses in 64 games.

Standings: Vegas, second place in Pacific Division with 72 points (29-21-14) for 72 points in 64 games and Edmonton ,third place in division with 70 points (31-25-8) in 64 games.
VGK Goals: Noah Hanifin, his third in the second period to tie game at 1-1; Jack Eichel, his 22nd in the third period to reduce deficit to 3-2.
Attendance: 17,960
Edmonton goals: Frederic (4); Podkolzin (15); Draisaitl (34); Kapanen (6)
Story line: VGK turnovers, failure to finish plays and inability to get shots in high-danger areas were costly. Lots of disjointed and sloppy puck management on both sides. Vegas also hurt by injured Mark Stone not playing.
VGK coach Bruce Cassidy postgame quote: “I’m not frustrated. You get what you deserve . . . It’s not smart hockey. Big mistakes ended up costing us.”
