Tip of the Cap To Athletics’ Baseball PR Staff For Telling It Like It Is

A’s DH and catcher Jonah Heim, who played for the Las Vegas Aviators in Las Vegas Ballpark in 2019.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The A’s have suffered through a brutal losing stretch during the past two months — and the team’s baseball PR crew have been brutally honest about the Athletics’ performance.

Major league teams PR staffers have been known to put a happy face and positive spins on game notes, stats and team play.

But you have to tip your cap to the A’s PR staff that sends daily reports on the team’s play.

Well, see for yourself. Here’s the opening paragraph for Tuesday’s game notes of A’s vs Royals:

  • The A’s are 4-5 over the last nine games but are 8-30 (.211) dating back to July 3…started the year 26-24 (.520) but are 23-52 (.307) dating back to May 22…are 49-76 (.392) overall, which is tied with the Angels for the lowest winning percentage in the majors…are a season-low tying 27 games under .500 for the third time…have not been more than 27 games under .500 since finishing the 2023 season 62 games under (50-112).

While the A’s have collapsed after a 38-38 start, the team is drawing attention for its roof truss installation at the Las Vegas stadium site on the Strip. The 33,000-fan domed stadium, which includes 30,000 seats and space for 3,000 standing fans, is scheduled to open for the 2028 MLB season.

LVSportsBiz.com has a hunch that Bally’s $1.1 billion mixed-use hotel-casino and entertainment project proposed to surround the A’s stadium might have another developer, so don’t be surprised if another builder developer comes off the bench. The stadium footprint is nine acres on the 35-acre site at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue.

The A’s are also descriptive in listing their player injuries.
