Sports Venue Triangle Of Allegiant Stadium, T-Mobile Arena, A’s Ballpark Can Be Reached By Bicycle; A Personal Bike Tour Saturday

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — It might just be the most prominent triangle of sports venues in the U.S. — the combo of Allegiant Stadium on the west side of I-15 and the Strip, T-Mobile Arena shoehorned between the New York New York parking garage and Park MGM and the new A’s stadium under construction at Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue.
They are all less than two miles from each other and amazingly reachable by bicycle, which can take you less than five or ten minutes via two wheels from the Strip to any of these stadiums/arena. T-Mobile Arena has wonderful bike racks next to the arena ticket window and the New York New York parking garage.
Even Allegiant Stadium has bike racks.
Here’s my famed Surly Pugsley locked up at both the arena on the Strip and at Raiders stadium.

On Saturday when the weather was gorgeous on that early April day in Las Vegas , I bicycled from the NFL Raiders stadium where an electric vehicle/sustainability was being held to T-Mobile Arena where West Virginia defeated Creighton in a men’s college hoops tourney called the College Basketball Crown and then to the A’s stadium site where I took photos from the neighboring Oyo hotel parking garage.

As I biked from stadium to arena to stadium construction site I was amazed at how easy, convenient and timely the short bike rides were. I avoid bicycling on the Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) and use parallel back roads like Koval Lane or Frank Sinatra Drive. It does take an assertive bicycling style, one that requires complete awareness and scanning techniques.
And it raised quite an obvious question: why are there not bike share stations at the sports venues and in the Strip corridor?

I emailed David Swallow at the RTC transportation agency in Clark County and here’s his response: “The furthest south we’ve gone to date is at Sahara/LVB because frankly, I don’t think the Strip is the right environment for people bike safely, especially for visitors using bike share.”

People can walk, which is the oldest form of transportation.
Or pay for a taxi or Uber ride. The Teslas in a Tunnel, which run at the Las Vegas Convention Center from the West Hall to the convention center’s east side of the complex, might be a future option.
Marc Badain, the A’s president working on the MLB team’s baseball stadium project, said there will be bike racks at the ballpark scheduled to open in 2028.

I thought it was interesting that an energy sustainability event was staged at Allegiant Stadium, where bike racks were added on the north side of the stadium. The Raiders take pride in energy savings at their stadium that they run.
The domed football stadium is the furthest from the Strip of the three venues and easily accessible from the west via local streets that can be used to park your car and then you can take your bike out of the car and pedal over to the stadium.
I have been doing that since the day the stadium opened in 2020.

Clark County could — in theory — create bicycle lanes and designate routes from the stadiums and arena.
But the county does not play much of role in transportation around the stadiums and arena in the Strip corridor.
I personally find bicycling an effective transportation method to reach buildings in the Strip corridor, one that beats the traffic and the parking costs.
