It’s a rough day at the rink when you’re a hockey team and you get to have the ol’ three-man advantage — a rare six-on-three scenario — but fail to score a goal.

But even having three more guys on the ice than the other team could not help the Vegas Golden Knights score a goal against the Arizona Coyotes at T-Mobile Arena Saturday night.

The Golden Knights seemed to control the pace and territory on the ice before an announced crowd of 18,591.

But neither team could score a goal after two periods.

The Knights allowed Arizona to hang around, as they say, and it came back to haunt them.

Clayton Keller picked up loose change near the VGK net and slid the puck past Knights goalie Logan Thompson and the Golden Knights trailed, 1-0, midway through the final period.

Then Lawson Crouse of Arizona scored an easy empty-netter and that wrapped up the scoring.

But not until the Knights had a six-on-three for the final 13 seconds.

During the three-man advantage, it was a shooting gallery against Arizona goalie Connor Ingram, who was simply stellar tonight.

The Knights have hit the skids, winning three times in the last nine games.

A subdued coach Bruce Cassidy was not pleased with the VGK results.

After returning from a five-game road trip, the Golden Knights hit the road again for three games in Calgary Monday, Edmonton Tuesday and Vancouver Thursday before returning to Las Vegas for a game with the Washington Capitals a week from tonight.

After 21 games, Vegas is 14-5-2 for 30 points, leading the Los Angeles Kings by only a point. The Kings, though, have played two less games. Vancouver also has 29 points like LA, with the Canucks playing 22 games.
