Las Vegas Aces player Riquna Williams was arrested Tuesday on domestic battery charges, according to police in Las Vegas.

The Aces guard appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court Wednesday morning and is facing several charges. Court records show nine charges filed against Williams.  The counts include domestic battery by strangulation, assault constituting domestic violence with the use of a deadly weapon, and coercion constituting domestic violence.

Williams, 33, was taken into custody “regarding a domestic violence investigation,” Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in a statement Wednesday.

She was held at Clark County Detention Center until her initial appearance. Chief Deputy District Attorney Glen O’Brien stated Williams was accused of “multiple violent allegations against her spouse.” After her initial court appearance, Williams was released on her own recognizance, and placed on alcohol monitoring.

The Aces issued this statement in response to the arrest:

These are not the first domestic violence charges for the 33-year-old. In 2019, the WNBA  suspended the then Los Angeles Sparks player for 10 games without pay over an incident in which she allegedly attacked her ex-girlfriend, Alkeria Davis.

Williams was arrested and charged with two felony counts after authorities in Florida detained her for allegedly punching Davis in the head and then threatening another person with a gun. According to the officer’s account, there were three victims which included a 10-year-old boy.

Williams was a pivotal part of the Aces 2022 championship scoring game winning points in the final two minutes of Game Four over the Connecticut Sun.

The Pahokee, Florida, native has yet to see any court time this season. She has been out with a lower back injury.
