All great things start small.

If Las Vegas will be a good place to ride a bicycle, it starts with small things like more bicycle racks to secure two-wheelers at Allegiant Stadium.

So many people were bicycling to the Raiders stadium for home games last season that the existing five racks on the west side of the 62,000-seat were overwhelmed with bicycles.

So the Raiders installed 15 more bike racks on the stadium’s north side and more bike racks on the other side of the venue, too.

Two Clark County Commissioners — Michael Naft and Justin Jones — joined Raiders President Sandra Douglass Morgan and RTC CEO MJ Maynard at a 1:30PM ceremony to christen the new bike racks Thursday.

The stadium is in Naft’s commission district and Naft has been vocal about increasing transportation options to serve the domed NFL stadium on the west side of I-15 across from Mandalay Bay. Jones, a very active bicyclist, also supports improving transportation resources in a transportation-challenged county.
