A CES program on sports health technology offered some dramatic timing as news spread around the National Football League and among sports fans that Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin began communicating in writing after he nearly died and suffered cardiac arrest on a football field during Monday’s Bengals-Bills game in Cincinnati.

Raiders team president Sandra Douglass Morgan welcomed 350 CES attendees to the discussion on “The Future of Sports Health Technology.”

Chicago-based Abbott presented the discussion, which brought together a panel of these speakers:

  • Pam Nisevich Bede, MS, RD, CSSD, LD, Sports Dietician and Author
  • Chris Davlantes, Sr. Director, Global Medical Affairs, Abbott
  • Skye Moench, Professional Triathlete, Supersapiens
  • Kevin Pearce, Inspirational Speaker, Love Your Brain and Former Professional Snowboarder
  • Chris Troyanos, ATC, Medical Coordinator, Boston Marathon

Several themes emerged as the speakers discussed the importance of listening to your body’s physical messages and using data collected during endurance events to aid the body.

Thursday was the first day of the four-day CES trade show, which is projected to bring 100,000 people to Las Vegas’ three major convention centers and meeting halls in hotels up and down the Strip.
