The Las Vegas Raiders held what they called an “Exclusive State of the Team Virtual Event” for personal seat license holders and season ticket fans Thursday 10 days before the team opens the 2022 season in Los Angeles against the division rival Chargers Sept. 11.

The event had special meaning this year with the revamped franchise having a new general manager, head coach and a recently-hired president who drew national attention for being the first black woman team president in NFL history.

Team president Sandra Douglass Morgan

Raiders owner Mark Davis has overhauled his NFL franchise by hiring General Manager Dave Ziegler, head coach Josh McDaniels and team president Sandra Douglass Morgan, who started July 7.

The trio hope to bring stability to a team that saw its previous president, Marc Badain, leave abruptly in July 2021, and former coach Jon Gruden resign amid an email scandal in October.

The state of the team event originated from the Raiders headquarters fieldhouse, where the players practice indoors at the Henderson team compound.

An email sent to fans said the event was set for 5 PM – 6 PM.

The Raiders’ 2021 turmoil-filled season was a roller-coaster experience both on the field and in the front office.

The Ziegler-McDaniels combo have years of experience from the New England Patriots, while Morgan is a local Las Vegas product and lawyer with experience in both the private sector and government with many contacts in the market.

One of Morgan’s top goals, she acknowledged when she was introduced nearly two months ago, is to stem the turnover of team executives and staffers who have left this past year.
