Wednesday’s attendance at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas was 9,037, the smallest attendance count so far for the 11-day pro basketball gathering at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion.

But the attendance did include these two — Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and former MLBer Alex Rodriguez.

Here are Thursday’s eight scheduled games:

The NBA Summer League, which ends July 17, begins its second week of action today. A week ago, attendance opened with 9,641 on July 7, then increased to 14,139 Friday and 17,022 Saturday.

The 11-day event has featured a sports-business program, an NBA “launchpad” of technology companies offering updates and vendors selling everything from tailor-made sneakers to personalized basketball figurines.

As a point of comparison, the Las Vegas Aviators Triple-A ballclub announced attendance of 5,065 for a night game Wednesday on a very hot day in Las Vegas.
