Man On Bicycle Killed By Motorist In North Las Vegas Sunday Morning

My heart sank — again.

A bicyclist was killed in the city of North Las Vegas Sunday morning.

Authorities identified the bicyclist as 31-year-old Ben Black. He had a pregnant wife and a young son. The gofundme.com page.

Every time I hear about a car or truck striking a bicyclist, my heart skips a beat.

This time, North Las Vegas Police said a woman driving an SUV crashed into a bicyclist pedaling south on Bostick Weir Street at 8:22 AM. Police said a woman in the SUV was moving east on Dorrell Lane and drove her vehicle into a bicyclist heading south on Bostick Weir St.

The man on the bicycle was transported to UMC, where he was pronounced dead.

The female motorist remained on the scene. Police said impairment is not believed to be a factor. But speed played a role and was a possible factor, police believe.
