There’s a new room at The Dollar Loan Center arena in Henderson and it opens at tonight’s Henderson Silver Knights minor league hockey game.

The new 6,000-arena in the Green Valley area, which is managed by VGK owner Bill Foley’s sports/entertainment operations, has unveiled the new John C. Kish Foundation Sensory Room. The room, designed with non-profit KultureCity, will offer space to venue visitors with autism or other sensory needs.

KultureCity also confirmed The Dollar Loan Center as a Certified Sensory Inclusive Venue.

“The creation of The John C. Kish Foundation Sensory Room reinforces our commitment to the families that visit The Dollar Loan Center,” said Kerry Bubolz, president and co-CEO of the Foley Entertainment Group, which operates the venue. “We appreciate the generosity of the Foundation to help make this possible and the expertise of KultureCity to ensure that our venue is welcoming to guests with sensory needs.”

The unveiling came during World Autism Month and included representatives from the City of Henderson, KultureCity and The John C. Kish Foundation. The room, which is located on the main concourse behind section 12, features a bubble wall, light wall, games and other elements designed to lessen sensory overload and engage both children and adults.

“Our communities are what shape our lives and to know that the Foley Entertainment Group is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that everyone, no matter their ability, is included in their community is amazing,” said Uma Srivastava, Kulture City executive director.

KultureCity is the nation’s only non-profit that provides sensory inclusion certification, a process that includes training for venue staff, offering guests approved sensory inclusive bags and creating a “social story” or visual narrative that prepares guests for their visit.

Guests of The Dollar Loan Center with sensory needs are invited to visit Guest Services behind section 3 for access to The John C. Kish Foundation Sensory Room beginning with tonight’s Silver Knights home game.
