Golden Knights Play Two Games In One, Snag A Point But Lose 5-4 In OT To Winnipeg Sunday

After the Las Vegas Raiders scored a wild last-second win over the Indianapolis Colts Sunday, their brother team in Las Vegas — the Golden Knights — pulled off some late-game drama with a game-tying goal against the Winnipeg Jets with a mere nine seconds left in regulation.
The only problem for the VGK was that Winnipeg’s Kyle Connor notched his 19th goal of this season to give the Jets and former VGKers Nate Schmidt and Paul Stastny a topsy-turvy 4-2 win over the Knights during a Sunday 1 PM matinee game at the Big Ice House by the Strip.
“The fans got two games for the price of one,” Golden Knights coach Pete DeBoer quipped after the game.
The Knights got off to a 2-0 start behind goals by Mike Amadio and Evgenni “Who’s Your Daddy” Dadonov in the first period.
But the Jets responded two goals only 20 seconds apart in the middle stanza to tie the game at two apiece after two periods.
Stastny gave Winnipeg a 3-2 lead early in the third period and the Jets added what they thought was an insurance goal for a 4-2 lead.
The VGK’s Mattias Janmark scored with exactly 6:23 left in the third period clock and then deadlocked the game after the Knights pulled their goalie, Laurent Brossoit.
The Golden Knights lost for their first OT game, but still sit atop the Pacific Division. VGK are 22-12-1 for 45 points, four points ahead of Anaheim.
VGK have games at home against the Preds Tuesday, the Rangers (and Gerard Gallant and Ryan Reaves) Thursday and the Blackhawks (and Marc-Andre Fleury) Saturday.
Oh, by the way, the Raiders play the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday with a playoff spot on the line.
