Nearly 170,000 NFR Fans Expected To Pack Thomas & Mack For 10 Days: Las Vegas Becomes A Many-Horse Town

By Alan Snel of LVSportsBiz.com

There’s a new PRCA commissioner in town to take in his first National Finals Rodeo as top cowboy of the PRCA, which sanctions the 10-day super rodeo event at Thomas & Mack Center.

Tom Glause was named as CEO of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in October, taking over for George Taylor. Glause joined the PRCA staff in Colorado Springs as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Rodeo Administration on May 15, 2019.

You might recall that Karl Stressman retired in 2017 after overseeing 10 NFRs. Taylor was at the helm for 2018-2020 NFRs. This year’s NFR, after taking its show on the road to Texas in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, starts Thursday at 5:45 PM.

Before the cowboys and NFR fans gathered at the Las Vegas Convention Center to see the lighting of the Christmas tree, they practiced a few routines at Thomas & Mack, the home arena of the UNLV basketball team. The Runnin’ Rebels will play two games during NFR’s run at the Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena.
