Three major league sports will have events in Las Vegas on Sept. 26 and you will see fans watching the action with different COVID-19 protocols.

At 1PM at Allegiant Stadium for the Las Vegas Raiders vs Miami Dolphins game, fans will be required to show proof of vaccination to get inside the stadium. But once inside the venue, fans will not be required to wear a mask unless they have had only the first of their two immunization shots.

Raiders owner Mark Davis said it was impossible to enforce the indoor mask requirement when announcing the vax requirement in August. About 6,000 fans got their first shots  in order to attend the the Monday Night Football game at the domed stadium.

At 4PM at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the South Point 400, fans who are outside in the grandstand will not have to wear masks because they are outdoors for the NASCAR event. But those inside in the Speedway club, suite or media sections must wear a mask to comply with the county’s indoor mask mandate.

At 7PM at T-Mobile Arena for the Vegas Golden Knights vs San Jose Sharks preseason game, fans will be required to wear a mask to comply with the county indoor mask mandate but will not have to show proof of vaccination.  In early June during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Golden Knights did not require fans to wear masks inside the arena if they were vaccinated.

But as of now, “proof of vaccination and/or proof of a negative COVID test in advance of attending a game will not be required at this time,” the Golden Knights said.

The COVID-19 coronavirus has killed more than 650,000 Americans and the Delta variant caused test positivity rates to increase as Clark County tried various strategies to get people to receive the vaccination.

The Seattle Kraken, the new NHL expansion team, is requiring fans who attend their home games to show proof of vaccination. And local entertainment events like the Life is Beautiful multi-day music festival in downtown Las Vegas, also requires attendees to show proof of vaccination.

For now, both the Golden Knights and the Speedway will stick to requiring masks for their indoor attendees.
