New Raiders Prez: Team Requires Office Workers To Be Vaccinated Against COVID

It was an RTC media event to hype expanded bus routes in metro Las Vegas and new bus service for Raiders home games.
But times being what they are in Las Vegas — with increasing COVID-19 infections and Nevada suffering its 6,000th coronavirus death — it was newsworthy that Gov. Steve Sisolak, Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones and new Raiders interim president Dan Ventrelle also stressed the importance of getting vaccinated against a virus that had killed 616,000 Americans.
Sisolak and Jones have sounded the call for vaccinations for weeks, but it was interesting to hear Ventrelle say the Raiders have a policy mandating that team office workers be immunized against COVID. The Raiders’ policy is consistent with many companies announcing that their workers must be vaccinated to work. Ventrelle took over as interim president of the Raiders when former president Marc Badain suddenly resigned July 19.
While some NFL players have voiced their displeasure that the league policy is, in effect, forcing them to get vaccinated when it should be their choice, the Raiders are joining more and more companies in corporate America that’s requiring them for employment, from United Airlines to Microsoft to Tyson.
The Raiders opened their stadium for a vaccination clinic, while the Vegas Golden Knights invited people to get vaccinated on the plaza outside T-Mobile Arena before a hockey game this year. The Las Vegas Aviators’ ballpark in Summerlin has also been used for workers to give coronavirus immunization shots.
Sisolak was adamant at the RTC event about people getting vaccinated. He said it was even more important than wearing masks. LVSportsBiz.com interviewed the governor today on the topic:
The Raiders will open Allegiant Stadium to their season ticket holders Sunday for a practice around mid-day and then will host the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 14 for the team’s first preseason game in the one-year-old 65,000-seat domed stadium. The Raiders open the regular season on Monday Night Football Sept. 13 against the Baltimore Ravens.
