He scored 43 goals in the Golden Knights’ historic Season 1 and you had to think it would be unlikely William Karlsson would match that number again.

But on Saturday night on Anaheim, Karlsson scored a circus goal with three back-checking Ducks working on stopping him, sneaking the puck past Anaheim goaltender John Gibson midway through period two to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Golden Knights a 2-1 edge after two periods. Springing Karlsson was defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, who zipped a half-rink pass to the Swede.

And then Karlsson notched the game-winner in overtime as goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made several spectacular saves in the OT.

VGK coach Pete DeBoer said Fleury’s performance in overtime was “vintage Flower.”

The Knights’ 3-2 win gave Vegas a 12-4-1 record, good for first in the western division. It sets up a dramatic two-game series with second-place Minnesota, which comes to Las Vegas for games Monday and Wednesday. The Knights’ game Monday will mark the return of fans to T-Mobile Arena.

The Golden Knights had jumped on Anaheim off the drop puck with five straight shots, but it was the Ducks that scored the game’s first goal.

Vegas tied the score at one when VGK forward William Carrier screened Ducks goalie John Gibson and VGK defenseman Alex Pietrangelo snapped a wrist shot into the upper right corner of the cage for his second goal of the season.

Marc-Andre Fleury won his 100th win as a Golden Knight. He was a facing a Ducks squad that was averaging less than two goals a game.

In minor league action, the Henderson Silver Knights defeated the San Diego Gulls, 4-2, Saturday afternoon. The Silver Knights are 8-1 and are undefeated at Orleans Arena.
