The Vegas Golden Knights are slicing some payroll fat to comply with the salary cap, fine-tuning line combinations and getting T-Mobile Arena ready for the franchise’s first game of a very weird fourth season during these COVID-19 pandemic times. The NHL season starts Wednesday and the VGK begin their 56-game schedule Thursday when the Anaheim Ducks come to T-Mobile Arena.

LVSportsBiz.com photographer Tyge O’Donnell received permission to document Tuesday’s VGK practice at City National Arena.

Here is his photo report.

“Follow my instructions” — Coach Pete DeBoer

“Captain of the Knights?” — forward Mark Stone

Every rink is a funhouse for forward Ryan Reaves

Bird Nest trio — Owner Bill Foley and number one and two hockey execs George McPhee and Kelly McCrimmon (the GM)

Forward Jonathan Marchessault never took a shot he didn’t like.

All eyes on a beefed-up Cody Glass this season.

With a compact season, Robin Lehner and Marc-Andre Fleury will both see action.

Tomas Nosek is back. Expect him on the chaos line with William Carrier and Reaves.

LVSportsBiz.com hopes to continue our coverage of VGK hockey for a fourth season starting live from Thursday. Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon announced Jan. 12, the following roster transactions: Patrick Brown, Dylan Sikura , Reid Duke , Danny O’Regan , Tyrell Goulbourne , Jake Bischoff and Carl Dahlstrom have been assigned to the American Hockey League’s Henderson Silver Knights.
