Even In Wall Mural Showing Core VGK Players At Team Ice Center, Lehner In, Fleury Out

By Alan Snel of LVSportsBiz.com

On the third day of Vegas Golden Knights training camp, I got my first look inside the the VGK ice center in Summerlin Wednesday and it was interesting to see who made the Golden Knights mural along stairs that led to the building’s second level. Six Golden Knights players were painted on the wall — and no Marc-Andre Fleury. Take a look.

As the Golden Knights practiced with drills and a scrimmage at 10 a.m. at City National Arena, it was interesting to see the players on the wall who were identified as the core of the team. Plus, two of the six players were wearing the Knights’ new gold jerseys.

From left to right, you have William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault and Robin Lehner on the left side of the VGK shield and Mark Stone, Alex Pietrangelo and Shea Theodore on the other side. Interesting to see Max Pacioretty not part of the core group in this mural either.

With VGK coach going with Lehner as his number one goalie, Fleury remains a fan favorite, a light-hearted jokester off the ice and occasionally on the ice.

The Knights also said the team will appear on national TV for 10 of the 56 games during this truncated pandemic season. This will be how it will work. One game will be exclusively broadcast on NBC, while six games will be NBCSN exclusive broadcasts, meaning the games will be shown on NBCSN throughout the U.S. and locally in the Las Vegas market.

The remaining three games on NBCSN will be broadcast nationally, but they will be blacked out in the Golden Knights TV market and those games will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet.

The Knights play their first game against the Anaheim Ducks Jan. 14, only a week from tomorrow.

Mark Stone, perhaps a future VGK captain one day?

There’s limited space for sports media to watch the Golden Knights practice at City National Arena during this pandemic age in Las Vegas and Nevada. Today was the first time LVSportsBiz.com received approval to report on the training camp at the facility in Summerlin.
