NFR Registers 323rd Straight Sellout Saturday Night In Las Vegas — And Counting

Saturday was the 323rd consecutive sellout at the National Finals Rodeo, which jams Thomas & Mack Center for 10 nights in December every year.

On Thursday’s opening night, attendance hit 16,792, while 17 more rodeo fans were crammed into Friday’s crowd for 16,809.

 

 


TV screens in bars up and down the Strip’s hotel-casinos had CBS Sports Network on broadcasting the NFR.

But that ends this year.

The PRCA — Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association — will have a new TV deal with Rural Media Group to televise the NFR on The Cowboy Channel and RFD-TV starting in 2020. Click here for more info on the PRCA-The Cowboy Channel TV deal.

 

 


He’s back at NFR on Sunday.

Charlie Daniels, a longtime performer at the bigtime rodeo in Las Vegas, missed NFR in 2018 because he wasn’t feeling well.

But he’s on the schedule to perform a song before Sunday’s NFR.

 


The NFR is as traditional a sports event as you will see in the United States. Can you imagine any cowboy taking a knee to protest racial injustice? Wouldn’t happen.

“The greatest symbol of freedom in the world today” was the announcer’s message when a young woman rode a horse with the American flag.

The NFR also has a prayer recited for the crowd before the action, too.
