The Lights celebrate their first goal of the night.

Las Vegas Lights Stay In Playoff Contention With Win Before 7,765 Fans Saturday

By Alan Snel of LVSportsBiz.com

The Las Vegas Lights FC drew a decent crowd of 7,765 on a cool October night, as the Lights kept their playoff hopes alive with a 4-2 win over playoff spot competitor San Antonio FC at Cashman Field Saturday.

Irvin Parra had a big game for the Lights scoring eight minutes into the game, and then at the end of five minutes of extra time in the first half.

A private development team is looking at a major overhaul of a stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard in downtown, including redeveloping the Cashman Center complex where the Lights play at Cashman Field. If the Las Vegas City Council approves a partnership with the developers, the Lights will be sold to a new owner who will make a bid for the Lights to graduate to Major League Soccer (MLS).

The next home game is the final home game. The Reno team comes to Cashman Field for a 7:30 p.m. match Saturday Oct. 12.
