They packed up the NBA Summer League hardwood and the thousands of NBA players, coaches, staffers and interns are gone from Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion, too.
It’s the biggest annual logistical project for UNLV’s campus arena and its executive director, Mike Newcomb, who works hand in hand with the NBA Summer League organizers, Warren LeGarie and Albert Hall, to throw the biggest multi-game 11-day professional basketball bash.
LVSportsBiz.com met Newcomb after Thursday’s Raiders stadium board meeting. Newcomb sits on the stadium authority board because the UNLV football team will play in Raiders stadium starting in 2020 and Newcomb also works as the executive director of Sam Boyd Stadium, where the UNLV football team will play one final season in 2019.
