Playoffs Will Be Multi-Million-Dollar Ticket Sales Windfall For Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights’ unprecedented run to the Stanley Cup playoffs means the first-year team will not only take its place in NHL lore as the best rookie club, but also puts the Knights into position to generate tens of millions of dollars in more ticket sales if the expansion franchise goes deep into the post-season.

 

With the Golden Knights easily selling out its regular-season games with a higher-than-average $88 per ticket cost, the team could expect to generate about $1.8 million to $2 million per home game in ticket sales based on the fact that ticket prices go up in the playoffs and the team can expect standing room only crowds.

Through 37 home games, the Golden Knights’ attendance stands at 666,644 — or 18,017 per game. With the Knights’ seating capacity at T-Mobile Arena at 17,367, the team has been regularly drawing SRO crowds of more than 18,000 for the past few weeks.

 

With tickets expected to increase in price for the playoffs, the Golden Knights can anticipate a multi-million-dollar windfall not expected for a first-year expansion club when the home regular-season games began Oct. 10 with an emotional win over the Arizona Coyotes.

The team has four remaining home games — March 26 (Avs); March 28 (Coyotes), March 30 (Blues) and March 31 (Sharks). For that last home game with San Jose, the starting price for VGK tickets on StubHub is $143.

If the Golden Knights advance from round to round during the post-season, they can expect the rounds’ ticket sale revenues to grow, too.

 

But it’s hard to say exactly how much the playoff ticket sale revenues would grow from round to round because the revenues can vary from team to team.

 

In fact, the ticket revenue increases can range in growth from anywhere from 15 to 50 percent per round for teams as they move deeper into the post-season.
