LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Blunt-talking Dana White was offered a high-profile job, but the Las Vegas-based UFC Bossman declined Donald Trump’s offer to be his press secretary.

In fact, the U.S. president even asked White to bring assistants like Amanda Nunes, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier to work with him.

White is Trump’s buddy, attending his inauguration, introducing Trump as the 2024 Republican National Convention and flying with the president.

“It takes a long time to build a market.”

That statement was by Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis, who was interviewed by CNBC Sports’ Michael Ozanian for this report.

During the interview, Davis also said he welcomed other major league sports teams like the MLB Athletics in 2028 and an NBA expansion team in possibly 2029. He noted the sports teams will compete for fans and revenues just like hotels on the Strip.

“The competition will be for sponsors,” Davis said during the interview.

Davis acknowledged the Raiders have not won enough in Las Vegas to earn locals’ commitment to not sell their game tickets to opposing fans.

“We haven’t earned that yet,” Davis said in the interview.

The four-win four-loss Raiders play their old Bay area rival, the San Francisco 49ers, on the road Sunday before returning home to play the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks next Sunday.
