LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The Las Vegas Raiders and Intermountain Health Monday announced a $25 million gift to help build Nevada’s first stand-alone children’s hospital.
The Raiders led the way with owner Mark Davis, Egon Durban and Michael Meldman each contributing $5 million each and the Raiders committing another $10 million for the $25 million contribution to the children’s hospital project. Health care has been a major issue for Southern Nevada, which faces a medical worker and health professional shortage.
It is the biggest philanthropic commitment in Raiders history, Davis said.
The hospital will be located at the UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park and be the first of its kind in Nevada, offering high-acuity pediatric care. The 828,000-square-foot children’s hospital will be located on a 33-acre campus and feature 180 patient beds, with room to grow.
“When we invest in children, we invest in everything that comes next — their education, their opportunities, and their future,” Raiders President Sandra Douglass Morgan said. “We want Nevada’s kids to know that their home team is cheering them on.”
It will provide advanced emergency services designed specifically for children and a full spectrum outpatient center alongside inpatient and specialty care.
“The Raiders are committed to excellence, and this gift is a generational investment that will keep families closer, strengthen our community, and give every kid every chance to thrive,” said Mitch Cloward, Intermountain Health region president.
