LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Raiders owner Mark Davis has no intention of letting go of his majority control of the NFL team, but he does have a succession plan for his fellow NFL owners to consider that would allow Raiders minority owner Egon Durban to buy a majority stake in the franchise, according to published reports.
Durban is the co-chief executive officer of Silver Lake, a private equity firm that invests in technology projects.
NFL owners in Dec. 2024 approved Durban owning 7.5 percent of the Raiders. The owners also gave the green light to Michael Meldman, the founder of Discovery Land Co., to also owning a 7.5 percent share of the team. The NFL owners signed off the 15 percent sale at their meeting more than a year ago.
In the same year, Davis also sold a 5 percent share of the team to former NFL star quarterback Tom Brady, who now works as a FOX Sports TV broadcaster.
NFL owners would vote on the Davis succession plan during their meetings in Phoenix starting March 29, reports say.
Davis has had control of the Raiders since 2011 after his father, Al Davis, died.
