LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Like the swallows returning to Capistrano every year, Raiders owner Mark Davis has fired a head coach in Las Vegas.

In 2026, it’s 74-year-old Pete Carroll who gets the ax.

The Raiders released this statement today:

Since moving to Las Vegas from Oakland in 2020, Davis has had five permanent or interim head coaches: Jon Gruden, Rich Bisaccia, Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce and Carroll. Davis even fired Bisaccia after he led the Raiders to the playoffs during the 2021 season.

Raiders minority owner Tom Brady will work with team General Manager John Spytek on searching for the Raiders’ next coach. Brady, former Patriots/Bucs Super Bowl-winning quarterback who is now a FOX Sports NFL broadcaster, and Spytek are friends from their days of playing at the University of Michigan.

It’s telling that Brady’s name is mentioned in the Raiders statement on the search for a new head coach. Observers were curious how much influence Brady has on team football operations. It appears he will be playing a bigger role in decisions at the Raiders.

Carroll won his first regular season game with the Raiders in September when the Silver & Black went to New England and beat the Patriots. The Raiders then went on to lose 14 of its next 15 games, including enduring a ten-game losing streak for the second straight season.
