LAS VEGAS, Nevada — They have first names like “Rocker,” “Tucker” and “Cooper” and the announcer enjoys telling the NFR fans, “Every day is Saturday in Las Vegas.”

On a week that the NBA will be showing up for its in-season Cup tournament action, the cowboys have taken over Sin City this week.

During the first six nights of the ten-day National Finals Rodeo, Thomas & Mack Center has attracted three crowds of more than 17,700 — decent crowds that are only a few hundred shy of Vegas Golden Knights crowds over T-Mobile Arena.

Here’s how the NFR attendance is shaking out so far:

Day 1: 17,362

Day 2: 17,731

Day 3: 17,779

Day 4: 17,764

Day 5: 17,360

Day 6: 17,213

A tall contestant with number 99 on his back said he enjoys Las Vegas: “I love big cities. Big towns mean big money.”

Indeed.
