LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Las Vegas’ tourism slump continued in August when 3,171,500 visitors came to Las Vegas, 6.7 percent less than in August 2024, the LVCVA reported Friday

The Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Authority (LVCVA) also convention attendance dropped eight percent to 587,300, while the hotel occupancy rate of 77.5 percent in August was a 3.7 percent drop from August in 2024.

The LVCVA launched a new “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas campaign this month with a 60-second TV spot during an NFL Dallas/Philadelphia game in hopes of stemming the declining tourism numbers.

Las Vegas did host a big Crawford vs Canelo boxing match at Allegiant Stadium and the Raiders also are hosting the Chicago Bears at that NFL stadium – a sports event expected to attract many out-of-town Bears fans. It’s common for many fans of visiting teams at the Raiders stadium to travel to Las Vegas and buy hotel rooms.

One distressing August tourism number in Las Vegas was the Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) of $125.84 — an 11.7 percent drop from a year ago.
