LAS VEGAS, Nevada — It was only July 24 when LVCVA Chief Sports Officer Brian Yost was making the rounds at the Big 10 football media days at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, chatting up sports writers about Las Vegas as a destination.

But a month and a half later LVSportsBiz.com has learned that Yost — who is also the chief operating officer of the publicly-funded tourism agency — is leaving the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA).

Yost has announced his plans to retire, but the LVCVA executive has not set a date, said Molly Castano, LVCVA vice president of public relations and communications.

Yost’s planned departure follows the news in June that that former LVCVA Vice President of Sports and Special Events Lisa Motley was longer at the government tourism agency that is charged with attracting tourists to Las Vegas and Southern Nevada.

Chief Operating Officer/Chief Sports Officer Brian Yost is leaving the LVCVA.

Motley left after LVSportsBiz.com reported irregularities with the way the LVCVA put a contract out to bid for a consulting job to work the College Football Championship (CFP) championship game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in Jan. 2027.

The LVCVA is looking to hire two positions, one on sports marketing and one on special events, and it looks like it will have another job opening with Yost’s planned departure.
