LAS VEGAS, Nevada — The NBA and ESPN Productions are poised to receive seven-figure payouts from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) when the public tourism agency votes on the sponsorship deals at its monthly meeting Tuesday.

They are just the latest sports organizations and promoters receiving millions of dollars in public money from the LVCVA for holding their sports events in the Las Vegas market.

The LVCVA board, made up of elected county and city officials and also private hotel company executives, typically approves these payouts without public comments.

The NBA is set to receive $1 million in public money from the LVCVA to hold the annual in-season NBA Cup semifinals and final at T-Mobile Arena. The LVCVA agenda for Tuesday said this about the NBA Cup:

The NBA, which also holds the annual Summer League at Thomas & Mack Center in July, will receive the $1 million for its games on Dec. 14 and 16.

The LVCVA board will also likely approve $2.65 million for ESPN Productions, Inc. for five Las Vegas Kickoff Classic college football games over four years from 2027-2030.

ESPN announced Wednesday these two Kickoff Classic games in 2028 and 2030 to bring the number to five games in four years at Allegiant Stadium at the start of the college football seasons.
