LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Charity softball games have a way of bringing together a buffet of personalities.
There was Raiders owner Mark Davis visiting Las Vegas Ballpark for the first time in five years and telling LVSportsBiz.com, “Just win, baby!”
And former Athletics great Reggie Jackson explaining he was hopeful that his ownership group could have purchased the A’s, a move that would have likely kept the A’s in the Bay area. Jackson observed that the A’s stadium on the Strip for 33,000 fans could be too small.
And former Vegas Golden Knights Misfit James Neal still has his good hair, saying he no longer plays in the NHL and the hair is “the only thing I have left.”
It sure was a loosey-goosey mood before the Raiders and Golden Knights played their annual Saturday “Battle For Vegas” charity softball game at the Triple-A home of the Las Vegas Aviators.
It made for a surreal scene of the likes of Raiders placekicker Daniel Carson and Golden Knights Misfit Reilly Smith, who worked on creating this fundraiser game, taking cuts at a yellow softball.
Ushers and security reported that they were expecting about 6,300-6,500 fans at the 10,000-seat ballpark, the Triple-A venue for the Las Vegas Aviators. The Golden Knights presented a $155,000 check for the VGK Foundation.
