LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Steve Hill was in a gleeful mood at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) board meeting Tuesday morning.

Hill, the LVCVA’s CEO, was telling the board members that WWE’s WrestleMania 42 was coming back to Allegiant Stadium April 18 and 19 of 2026 after the pro wrestling mega-event was staged at the Raiders-run NFL stadium only two months ago.

Naturally, the LVCVA staff had a WWE video lined up to show the board members to herald the WrestleMania 42 news.

If you’re wondering why big events like the Super Bowl come to Las Vegas it’s because tourism public officials spend a lot of public money to the event promoter and Clark County government officials rubberstamp event approvals.

The LVCVA paid $5 million in the form of a sponsorship to WWE for the promoter to have WrestleMania 41  held in Las Vegas in April.

In other words, Las Vegas pays to play.

LVSportsBiz.com attempted to talk with Hill after today’s LVCVA board meeting to see if the LVCVA will pay $5 million or more for the 2026 WWE event, but we were told Hill was not available because he had another meeting to attend.
