LAS VEGAS, Nevada — After LVSportsBiz.com reported on irregularities with LVCVA’s Request For Proposal (RFP) bidding for the consulting job of doing PR/game production for the 2027 college football championship game in Las Vegas, the public tourism agency had decided to re-bid the RFP for the work.
The LVCVA (Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority) awarded a $1.2 million contract to Position Sports in March for the consultant job for the CFP (College Football Playoff) title game at Allegiant Stadium in Jan. 2027.
But LVSportsBiz.com broke an exclusive story reporting that an Position Sports executive was part of the LVCVA’s travel group that went to the 2025 CFP championship game in Atlanta two months earlier in January. If the LVCVA picked Position Sports for the consulting work in March, why was Position Sports president Melissa Grossman part of the LVCVA travel party in Atlanta to study the football game?
“We told the board yesterday, and we also let the board know that we have not completed the process of looking into what happened,” LVCVA spokesperson Molly Castano told LVSportsBiz.com before Tuesday’s LVCVA board meeting. “Until we complete that process, we won’t have anything else to say.”
Besides Grossman of Position Sports getting a hotel room booked by the LVCVA and also attending LVCVA’s paid-for meals in Atlanta in January, current Position Sports Chief Media Officer Jeff Motley also was part of the LVCVA hotel room block at the 2025 CFP title game and also attended LVCVA meals. Jeff Motley was still working for Las Vegas Motor Speedway at the time in January and his new job at Phoenix-based Position Sports was announced in March.
Jeff Motley is the former husband of LVCVA VP for Sports and Special Events Lisa Motley, who helped explain the RFP bidding process to companies interested in the LVCVA job. Lisa Motley, however, officially did not pick Position Sports. It was the LVCVA Purchasing Department.

At today’s LVCVA board meeting, LVCVA CEO Steve Hill made no mention of the new RFP bidding process.

In board news, the LVCVA board members approved:
— Las Vegas Events production services deal for July 1 to June 30, 2026 for $6,793,000.
— $55,000 to cover RTC Club Ride members to use the Las Vegas Monorail during the F1 road race in November.
— $1.5 million to sponsor the Neon City Festival at the Fremont Street Experience to give Las Vegas locals something to do during the F1 race weekend when the Las Vegas Grand Prix takes over the Strip corridor.
