LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Another major sports event is coming to Allegiant Stadium.

The College Football Playoff said Friday its 2027 championship game will be played at Allegiant Stadium in two years on Jan. 25, which is a Monday.

Allegiant Stadium hosted Super Bowl 58 only a year ago, while the Raiders’ home stadium is set to be the home of college basketball’s Final Four championship in 2028.

It’s another big get for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority (LVCVA), the public agency charged with drawing tourism to metro Las Vegas and Southern Nevada.

The LVCVA released this video Friday:

Las Vegas will become the third city in the Pacific time zone to host the CFP title game, joining the Bay Area (2019) and Los Angeles (2023).

LVCVA head Steve Hill said this in a statement: “Pairing the energy of Las Vegas with the College Football Playoff National Championship will make for a truly extraordinary event, both on and off the field.  We appreciate the opportunity the CFP has provided us to welcome college football’s greatest athletes and biggest fans for an unmatched national championship experience in the city built for celebration.”

Rich Clark, College Football Playoff executive director, was quoted as saying this in a CFP statement: “Las Vegas has shown the world they have amazing venues and boundless energy to host an event like the College Football Playoff National Championship in spectacular fashion. I can’t think of a better stage to crown the best team in college football in 2027.”
