LAS VEGAS, Nevada —  Raiders owner Mark Davis generated nearly $2.5 million in rent revenue from UNLV Athletics by charging UNLV more than $400,000 per game for each of the six Rebels regular season football games at Allegiant Stadium for the 2023 football season, according to records released by the university after an LVSportsBiz.com public records request.

Rent for UNLV Football’s six regular home games for the 2024 season at Allegiant Stadium was not available because UNLV has yet to finalize its 2024 football season financial records, according to a university staffer who handled our public records request. UNLV football finished No. 23 in the final AP poll released Tuesday and remained at No. 24 in the Coaches poll, marking the first time UNLV finished a season ranked.

Here’s a breakdown of the rent paid for each of UNLV’s six regular season games in 2023:

^ UNLV vs Bryant, Sept, 2, 2023: $403,938.67

^UNLV vs Vanderbilt, Sept. 16, 2023: $421,408

^UNLV vs Hawaii, Sept. 30, 2023: $418,843.40

^UNLV vs Colorado State, Oct. 21, 2023: $406,356.84

^UNLV vs Wyoming, Nov. 10, 2023: $406,356.84

Six-game total paid by UNLV to the Raiders for use of Allegiant Stadium: $2,468,638.33

Here’s the stadium invoice payments:

The 2023 Allegiant Stadium rental cost is an increase over the 2022 rental numbers of nearly $2.2 million in rent. None of the UNLV home games in 2022 cost $400,000.

There are other college football teams that use NFL stadiums.

University of South Florida (USF) has played at the Tampa Bay Bucs’ Raymond James Stadium for many years. The University of Miami also plays at the Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium, while Temple plays at the Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field. Pitt plays at the Steelers’ Acrisure Stadium and Tennessee State plays at the Titans’ Nissan Stadium.

The Southern Nevada public contributed $750 million toward the Raiders stadium’s $1.4 billion construction budget, which was the biggest part of the stadium’s overall $2 billion project. But because of the debt on the $750 million, Southern Nevada has more than $1 billion to go to pay off the public contribution to the stadium that is managed by the Raiders.

Southern Nevada is paying off the stadium public debt thanks to a hotel room fee revenues approved under the 2016 stadium bill by the Nevada Legislature.

The stadium has been a financial boon for the Raiders, now valued at more than $7 billion thanks to their move to Las Vegas from Oakland. The Raiders opened their domed 62,000-seat stadium in Las Vegas in 2020.

The Raiders make money by charging stadium use fees to promoters of events like WrestleMania 41 set for April 19 and 20. WWE says WrestleMania 41 will feature a five-day fan experience event at the Las Vegas Convention Center’s West Hall that will include activities like a central main stage hosting roundtable discussions with top WWE Superstars, live podcast recordings, live memorabilia and autograph sales through Fanatics Live, and the largest WWE Superstore in  WrestleMania history.
