Vegas Chamber Previews WrestleMania, While Aguero Gives Overview To Las Vegas Market (Good For Sports, Health Care Needs Workers)

LAS VEGAS. Nevada — He batted leadoff for the Vegas Chamber’s annual preview show Thursday, and he was introduced as the guy “who needs no introduction.”
That would be Jeremy Aguero, the Las Vegas native and 1996 UNLV grad who is no stranger to giving high-spirited economic and data overviews of the Las Vegas market.
Aguero’s Applied Analysis business has contracts with everyone from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and Major League Baseball’s A’s to Las Vegas-based UFC. Aguero’s Applied Analysis even worked for the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board, doing its administrative work, before Aguero left to work for the Raiders in October 2021 before leaving the NFL team in 2022.
In 2022, Applied Analysis made $331,000 working as the stadium board’s consultant. After working as the consultant for the public stadium board, Aguero then took a job working as a consultant for the Athletics, the team that plans to open a 30,000-seat domed stadium on the old Tropicana site on the trip in 2028. Just to be clear, Aguero’s Applied Analysis no longer works for the Las Vegas stadium board because Aguero works for the A’s as a consultant (and that would be a conflict of interest.)
We offer this background to show that Aguero’s fingerprints are on many of Las Vegas’ sports developments. And Aguero offered some tasty tidbits on the local industry.
^ The average ticket prices of both the Las Vegas Raiders and Vegas Golden Knights rank second in their respective leagues. The average Raiders ticket price is $243 (second only to the Detroit Lions), while the average Golden Knights ticket price is $143 (second only to the Toronto Maple Leafs._
^ He said the explosive growth of Las Vegas in 1950 to Las Vegas in 2024 was 1,941 percent, comparing the transformation to The Incredible Hulk.
^ The median price of a Las Vegas house is $475,000, which means the household income has to be about $130,000 but the average income in Vegas is about $80,000. “We have pricing issue that is a disconnect.”
^ Las Vegas has 29 percent of its residents with a bachelor’s degree, ranking 45 out of 50 states. But a little more than 50 percent of Las Vegas newcomers have a bachelor’s.
^ Aguero, like Gov. Joe Lombardo in his state of the state talk last night, touched on the problem of not enough health care workers and doctor in Las Vegas and Nevada. But the time on the topic was scant compared to the time spent by Aguero pointing out Las Vegas’ strengths as a sports and entertainment destination.
The A’s hope to have a ground breaking for their stadium on the Strip in either April, May or June.
LVSportsBiz.com learned that the A’s have sold out 6,500 season tickets at the 10,000-seat minor league ballpark in West Sacramento where the A’s will play in 2025, 2026 and 2027 while the stadium is built in Las Vegas.
The A’s will likely have an office in the Summerlin area in the Las Vegas market while the stadium is built on the Strip.
The A’s also contacted fans via email to say suites and luxury spaces are available at Sutter Health Park, home of the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats. The River Cats, the San Francisco Giants’ affiliate, will share the stadium with the A’s.
The same construction team of Mortensen and McCarthy that built the Raiders stadium in 2020 is also building the A’s ballpark in Las Vegas.
Ending the preview was LVCVA CEO Steve Hill’s chat with Nick Khan, the Las Vegas native and former talent agent who is the WWE president overseeing WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium April 19 and 20.
Khan explained WWE relies on the three Rs: revenue, ratings, relevance. WWE is a co-division with UFC under the TKO Group Holdings banner. Khan said UFC and WWE already share some work with UFC like live entertainment activities.
Khan said WrestleMania in Las Vegas will be two weeks after college basketball’s Final Four. “We believe all eyes will be on us,” Khan said.
The Vegas Chamber forum offers talks on the market’s sports events.
For example, in 2022, the Chamber gave Formula One’ Las Vegas Grand Prix leaders a chance to talk about its annual November race event in the Strip corridor.
And last year, Fisher made his first public presentation to the Las Vegas market at the Chamber preview after he decided to move the historic American League franchise from Oakland to Las Vegas.
