Conference Shuffle: UC Davis Joins Mountain West For Basketball, Baseball, Other Sports, But Not Football

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — UNLV will compete against a new team in the Mountain West Conference starting in 2026.

UC Davis is joining the Mountain West in two years.

UC Davis will join a sports conference that will include UNLV, Air Force Academy, Grand Canyon University, Hawai’i, Nevada, New Mexico, San Jose State, UTEP and Wyoming.

UC Davis will play sports like basketball and baseball in the Mountain West.

But UC Davis will not play football in the MWC. (UC Davis’ football team will continue to play in the Big Sky Conference).

The Mountain West Conference will undergo changes as schools such as Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado, Fresno State and Utah State will be joining the Pac-12 in 2026.
