Raiders/Aces owner Mark Davis took his courtside seat to watch his Las Vegas Aces play the Seattle Storm in Game 1 of the WNBA playoffs after his NFL Las Vegas Raiders played lamely in a one-sided loss to the Carolina Panthers about three hours earlier.

It was clear from Davis’ body language he was upset over the way the Panthers took apart his Raiders in a 36-22 win over the Silver & Black at Allegiant Stadium, leaving the Raiders with a 1-2 record.

But at the same time, he was upbeat about his two-time defending WNBA champion Aces as they entered the Best-of-3 first round series with Seattle. Davis was seen schmoozing with WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert before the Aces-Storm game before sitting in his customary courtside post at half court.

Davis told LVSportsBiz.com he is “compartmentalizing” the Aces game from the Raiders game and had no comment about the Raiders getting routed by a previously winless Panthers club.

The Panthers led the Raiders, 21-7, at halftime and the game was never competitive in the second half.

LVSportsBiz.com also told Davis that we asked Raiders Head Coach Antonio Pierce after the game, “Coach, I know you’re upset with the performance. How would you rate your concern about the team’s effort? It seemed like this is one of the first games under your leadership that the team just didn’t seem to show up tonight.”

And I also relayed Pierce’s answer: “No they didn’t. I think as the game went on — I don’t think it was the team. I think there was definitely some individuals that made business decisions and we’ll make business decisions going forward as well.”

Davis’ ears perked up about Pierce’s comments about “some individuals made business decisions and we’ll make business decisions going forward as well.”

But he declined to comment on those Pierce comments.

We will be following this story.
