The Raiders are not projected to reach the National Football League postseason, so their roster is not exactly stacked with superior talent.

But claiming a job on an NFL roster — even one like the Raiders’ — is still a admirable accomplishment.

Some players like standout stars Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby woke up this week without a worry about making the 53-man roster.

But some did. Take the two Amaris — Gainer and Burney. Both are 24-year-old linebackers and their heights are a mere inch apart.

Coach Antonio Pierce chats with the media Thursday morning.

Gainer’s heart for the game caught the eye of Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce.

“He came in the door day one. There was more to him. He played 90 plus snaps (in the last preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers),” Pierce said. “He got better and better.”

Another player who made the roster was 26-year-old Tyreik McAllister, a free agent signee with one year of experience.

They learned this week they’re on the Raiders roster.

Then, there are the players who are not on the 53-man roster. But they do get to come to the Raiders training center in Henderson with cards that open HQ doors because they have been named to the practice squad. It’s a squad that has 15 men — and there’s space for one more for a squad that has a 16-member limit.

It’s an open weekend for the Raiders and the rest of the NFL before the season starts Thursday with Baltimore playing the two-time defending NFL champion Chiefs in Kansas City. The Raiders play in ten days against division rival Chargers at SoFi Stadium in the Los Angeles area.

The Raiders open their home schedule at Allegiant Stadium with a 1 PM game against the Carolina Panthers Dept. 22. The cheapest ticket on the secondary market for Raiders hosting Panthers is $170 on Ticketmaster.
