With the InfoComm trade show in town, the participating companies that install scoreboards at stadiums and arenas re are well aware of the A’s baseball stadium project pegged for nine acres on the Strip at the former Tropicana hotel-casino site.
Brookings, South Dakota-based Daktronics, which manufactured the giant scoreboard at Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin, is here at the show and the company has an eye on bidding for the scoreboard and LED display contracts at the proposed A’s stadium at the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue.
Daktronics was hired for the scoreboard at T-Mobile Arena, which opened in 2016.
Another company that installed the scoreboards at the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California is Samsung, which also has its eye on the 33,000-seat domed A’s stadium that Athletics owner John Fisher wants to be open for the 2028 MLB season.
One of the stadium renderings released by the A’s in March shows an interior perspective with a scoreboard in a prominent area of the ballpark.
LVSportsBiz.com learned that Fisher was scheduled to be in Las Vegas this week to talk with his stadium construction managers, Mortenson and McCarthy. The two construction companies also worked together to build the Raiders’ stadium. The Raiders’ overall $2 billion stadium project included a $1.4 billion construction build the venue, which sees Raiders action for a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys Aug. 17.
The A’s are also inviting Las Vegas locals to focus groups to offer thoughts on the stadium project on the Strip.
