Bill Foley, the global consummate dealmaker adored in Las Vegas for his Stanley Cup-winning Vegas Golden Knights, has struck again.
The Golden Knights majority owner who already owns a growing business empire of international sports properties and wineries said Monday night he has added another sports team to his global portfolio.
With other business interests planted in New Zealand, Foley was awarded an expansion football club, or soccer team, in Auckland, New Zealand. The A-Leagues announced the awarding of the team to Foley, who owns wineries, restaurants and a luxury lodge in New Zealand.
In December 2022, Foley acquired the AFC Bournemouth soccer team of the Premier League in England. Then a month later in January, Foley bought a significant minority share in a French soccer team, FC Lorient. The soccer teams are under Foley’s Black Knight Football Club banner.
Foley’s first business in New Zealand dates back 15 years ago to 2008 and his Foley Wines is listed on the New Zealand stock exchange.
His companies in New Zealand have hired more than 500 Kiwis.
