Allegiant Stadium, the darling of Las Vegas entertainment venues, absorbed a black eye Saturday when Ed Sheeran canceled his concert at the Raiders stadium less than an hour before the event was set to start.

An apologetic Sheeran posted this on Instagram before the scheduled show at the domed stadium.

Apparently, there were production and stage problems at the stadium — or as Sheeran put it, “challenges encountered during the load.”

Social media was abuzz with blistering criticisms of the Grammy Award-winning crooner and the stadium for having fans wait outside the stadium in sweltering Las Vegas heat as they tried to get through the turnstiles.

In this case, many of the Sheeran fans traveled from outside the Las Vegas market to attend the concert at Allegiant Stadium.

Sheeran has moved the concert to Oct. 28 and all purchased tickets will be valid for that date at Allegiant Stadium.

Concerts typically go off without hitches at Allegiant Stadium, which has hosted major concerts performed by the music industry’s biggest names like Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
