Las Vegas Desert Dogs Part-Owner Joe Tsai Instrumental In Launching First Outdoor Game For Indoor Lacrosse League In San Diego Saturday

It’s a big deal when a professional indoor lacrosse league game is moved to the great outdoors to be played in a college football stadium for the first time.
And NBA Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai has his fingerprints all over the San Diego Seals vs Las Vegas Desert Dogs game at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego Saturday.
Tsai is a part-owner of the first-year Desert Dogs that is playing at Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena and is also owner of the Seals in San Diego. His ownership roles in both Indoor Lacrosse League teams helped get the game played outside at the stadium, which is the home venue of the San Diego State football team.
Tsai, who played lacrosse in college as a walk-on, was involved in bringing the World Lacrosse Championships to Snapdragon Stadium this summer and has also called for lacrosse to be a sport at the 2028 Olympics. Here’s a Tsai interview on his interest in promoting and growing lacrosse.
Tsai owns the Desert Dogs with hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, former NBA player Steve Nash and pro golfer Dustin Johnson.
Saturday’s “Stadium Showdown” game is set for 1:30PM Vegas/Pacific time. It will be the largest production in National Lacrosse League history, with 13 cameras including Spider Cam, four participants and an official mic’ed up and 11,000+ seats up for grabs.
It will be the first time a box lacrosse configuration will be set up on an outdoor playing surface. The indoor lacrosse game bein played outdoors can be seen live on ESPN+, TSN+, FOX5 in San Diego and KVMY Ch. 21 in Las Vegas.
