Boyd Gaming will not float a $5 million deal to watch the Formula One grand prix race in Las Vegas like Caesars Entertainment or have the MGM Resorts International sports promotion bandwidth, but the Las Vegas-based hotel-casino company can still make a splash with expansion plans that have a sports angle to them.
After debuting a FanDuel-branded sportsbook at its downtown Fremont property, Boyd Gaming unveiled a new 13,150-square-foot food hall at Fremont Thursday to promote six casual dining brands. In all, Boyd Gaming owns 29 properties, including 10 here in Las Vegas. Those 10 Vegas hotels include three in downtown, including the Fremont Hotel and Casino.
While FanDuel runs Boyd hotel-casino sportsbooks in seven states, this is the first FanDuel-branded sportsbook at a Boyd Gaming property here in Las Vegas, said Bob Scucci, vice president of race and sports operations.
The Fremont food hall is part of a $50 million property-wide renovation and expansion project at The Fremont.
The FanDuel sportsbook is officially operated by Boyd Gaming, which owns a five percent interest in FanDuel.
The sportsbook is next to the food hall, which is also accessible off 3rd Street in downtown Las Vegas.
FanDuel is a top sports betting operator in the U.S. Boyd Gaming still operates its Boyd sport app in Nevada.
The Fremont property opened in 1956.
The food hall’s new vendors are Roli Roti, CRAFTkitchen, Tomo Noodles, Steak ‘n Shake, Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders and Dunkin’.
