Jim Frevola, a key Bill Foley sports group business executive who helped launch the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017 and then went to work for the Tampa Bay Lightning, is returning to the Foley group to run the business operations of Foley’s AFC Bournemouth soccer team in England’s Premier League.
Frevola’s job is a big one. He will oversee revenue development for the club, while also growing the team’s presence locally in the community and globally by expanding the AFC Bournemouth brand around the world.
That was also Foley’s vision for the National Hockey League’s Vegas Golden Knights. Foley, the VGK majority owner, wanted the Golden Knights to be a business force locally while also being a global brand. He created a worldwide fan club and sought to sell licensed VGK logo gear globally.
Frevola leaves his Tampa Bay Lightning job, where he worked as chief commercial officer.
He was part of the Golden Knights’ original business staff where he served as senior VP and chief sales officer. Frevola worked on growing the Knights’ corporate sponsorship base, helping the VGK rank in the NHL’s top five in revenue in a mid-size market in the league.
Frevola is in Europe now. He starts his new role with the club immediately and will be relocating to the south coast in the new year.
Frevola offered this statement in a Bournemouth release: “During my time in Las Vegas, Bill taught me the values of never giving up and always advancing to achieve our goals. I look forward to working alongside Bill, Neill Blake, the AFCB organization and the entire Bournemouth community to ensure we help grow the club to extraordinary new heights. My wife, Ybis, and I are thrilled to call Bournemouth our new home.”
Before joining the Golden Knights, Frevola also worked for UFC, the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins and Major League Baseball’s Florida Marlins.
