The Southern California vs Utah Pac-12 championship football game set for Friday in Las Vegas is sold out, while the conference plans to return to Allegiant Stadium in 2023 as part of an extended deal with the stadium, Raiders, LVCVA and MGM Resorts International.
“MGM Resorts and the Pac-12 Conference have had a long-standing partnership. We look forward to continuing to showcase MGM’s brand of hospitality and entertainment to student-athletes and football fans nationwide,” said Lance Evans, MGM Resorts International senior VP for sports and sponsorships.
It made sense that the Pac-12 would stage its conference championship football game in Las Vegas because the stadium is an effective neutral site venue. And oh yes, there’s a nice connection that Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff is a former MGM Resorts Intl executive.
The game has major implications for Southern Cal, which is trying to earn a berth in college football’s Final Four with a win.
