The Raiders’ start was painful to watch for Silver & Black fans Sunday.
Derek Carr threw an interception on the game’s first play against the surprising Seattle Seahawks The Seahawks then scored on a run and the Raiders trailed, 7-0, after a mere 28 seconds.
But the Raiders ended this contest suddenly and quickly. It came in overtime when running back Josh Jacobs took a handoff from Carr, ran through the middle of the trenches and raced 86 yards to give the Raiders a second consecutive walk-off OT win.
In a game that was reminiscent of many wild and crazy back-and-forth contests only a year ago when the Raiders made the playoffs, Las Vegas left Seattle celebrating a 40-34 win over a team that was tied for first in its division.
It was a career game for Jacobs, 24, a hard-running 220-pounder from Alabama who made it nearly impossible for the Raiders to not re-sign him. His epic OT TD run through the spine of the Seattle defense ended a jaw-dropping performance that included 229 rushing yards, 74 receiving yards, 303 total yards and two rushing touchdowns.
The Raiders were in the hole in the game’s first minute, but actually led, 24-20, at halftime.
The OT win came only a week Carr tossed a walk-off TD pass to Davante Adams to defeat the Denver Broncos in the Mile High City.
The Raiders are 4-7 after the heart-pounding win. If the Raiders win two more straight games to reach 6-7, that will be the same record the team had only one year ago when Las Vegas finished 10-7 to be the top-seeded wild card team in the American Football Conference.
